"Aloha from Hawaii” by Lila Bowra: Apr. 2024 3rd Place

My mom wakes me up and says 'you have no school today because there is no electricity. Let’s go on an adventure.' I got excited and screamed 'I want to go Maui!' We got into the teleporter and suddenly we were on a beach on Maui with red and black sand and clear blue water. 'Let's go surfing,' I say. I pushed my surfboard out and I rode some waves and then I saw a shadow. Was that a SHARK??? I almost fell off my board and had a heart attack.

Then I took a closer look and it was a cute turtle. I was surprised that the turtle climbed on my board and together we rode a big wave. The turtle looked at me and smiled, then jumped back into the water and swam away.

I needed a break from being in the water so I decided to do something I have always wanted to do - ziplining. Luckily there is a jungle on Maui to go ziplining in. I put my safety gear on and I felt like a bird flying from tree to tree. I wish I could do this forever but I CAN'T. Sadly I have to go home to practice piano because my piano teacher is coming soon.

Later that day my piano teacher came over. He looked at me and said 'Wow you are very tan.'
